songs of Obsession "Candy" Iggy featuring Kate Pierson

Don't you love it when you forget about something great.  This song was MY SONG my sophomore year in college, and for some reason I kind of put it on the back burner until I rediscovered it yesterday.  It makes me feel just as good as it was then.  They're a good match for a duet.  I love Kate Pierson's voice, and her classic B52's dance moves, the sort of awkward, outerspace, 60's hip shaking.  Iggy has no shirt as usual.  I think he might be allergic, but that's his thang.  I'm thinking about doing this song via karaoke if they have it.

"Beautiful, beautiful, girl from the north, you lit me up with a flickering torch..."

Oh Ayn!

Okay, I'm not a fan of Ayn Rand, and I'll say no more about that.  But she's my brother's favorite philosopher, so for xmas I decided to decoupage an article I found in GQ about her on to a sketchbook.  The article has Ayn's face super imposed on a dominatrix's body!  It's great even if you dont like her!

San Marcos

Took a little trip to San Marcos to visit my friend, Michael.  I always thought San Marcos didn't have anything, like it was just this big mall off the highway that people go to for buying name brand clothing at cheaper prices, but I was wrong.  It actually reminded me a lot of Denton the way the town is set up i.e. a bunch of old, hip vintage clothing shops and restaurants centered around a courthouse, the classic Texas small town set up.  They also have nature there, unlike most places.

Some graffiti at a sandwich place that we went to first.  I figured I could use them as stock images some day.  There's something crude and endearing about them.  Like they were done by teenage cave delinquents with attitude.

Experimenting with sunlight.  I like the way Michael's profile hits the sun like a silhouette.

And finally, two modelly pictures I manipulated using adjustment layers in photoshop.  And yes, I wear purple sometimes.  Sometimes you have to salute His Purple Badness.

Comic Book Masks

Time to take comic shredding to the next level.  I decided to make 3D masks out of them with decoupage from all of my scraps.  They turned out really cool I think.  Like they were artifacts spat straight out of the comic book.  I put them in a shadowbox.

Unexpected good music in the new twilight movie

I've come to the conclusion that a lot of songs on the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack don't suck.
I'm willing to admit that I really like this song.  Yes it was in Twilight, but I don't care.  I really haven't heard anything like this.  The transition is so smooth, almost perfect, and when it does, it sounds like the lead singer is singing through water.  It has an eerie, magical vibe to it.  Even though it's only available on the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack, I still think it's a really great song.
Which brings me to this...

So it was played at a sappy moment in the movie (yes I saw the movie, put down the rotten eggs please) that still shouldn't take away the fact the Lykke Li's voice is completely captivating.  Her voice has an innocence to it, a rawness that not a lot of vocalists can emulate.

You can't just put down good music just for being linked to a stupid movie, because it happens more than you think.  Exhibit A: S. Darko, terrible straight to DVD movie, but awesome Shoegaze music played in it.

naked with a dash of obscurity

These were from a  photoshoot I did for someone else earlier in the break.  They're a little riskay, but I think that they're so obscure that they hang more on the border of "artsy" than "skanky"  I like the method I used of combining the pictures, especially two of each that had warm and cool color schemes.  Enjoy i guess.

Two Really Great Chilled Out Dance Songs I love

Both were first heard on the Discovery station from Pandora.

I'm pretty sure this one was based of the song "Four Little Diamonds" but I think it surpasses that song (also i dont really like that song >:] )

This one is a remix, but the original version can suck a cock with it, this version rocks!  I want to hear it at some sort of strip club with naked bodies in the background, or the horse race track with the richest of the rich.

Sir Kaga

My best friend Laura painted a still life of Lady Gaga and I at the disco.  It's really awesome because a lot of times when Gaga and I get together, shit gets INTENSE so Laura's paints kept getting spilled by rogue back up dancers dressed in garish costumes.  She did a great job though!
This isnt the first time Lady Gaga and I have been spotted together.  We get along because we both like strutting when we walk, as pictured above, and we both go to underground hot spots.  Her on the streets of New York to a club, and me at the bowling alley  I also appear in this music video below at 2:56.  We make out, but that's what friends do sometimes.

Robin II, Superman Vs. 4 Armed Terror, and Cap'n America

So I'm trying to do a little show with these collages, maybe in a coffee shop, or a lil gallery.  It's going to be a collaborative show with David, but I'm not sure when it's going to be.  I'm going to do 2 dimensional art, and he's going to do sculpture, all themed after super heroes.  Probably not anytime soon.  I'm thinking the summer?  Anyway here are a few other collages.  My final I think.

I did this one because I needed another non super hero costume piece to go along with the Oh How the Mighty Have Fallen.  The premise here is that Superman has fallen deeply in love, with the four armed terror.  They have a lot in common since they're both powerful aliens drawn to Earth.  Unfortunately their life together could never be, torn apart by the forces of good and evil.
I know, I've already done a Robin, but it was the first one I did, and I already gave it away.  Besides, it wasn't made out of comcbooks so it wouldnt fit in with this exhibit.
Bigger in scale than the rest, I'm also working on a Wonder Woman one of the same size, and the Incredible Hulk.

Not for all the Unicorns in the World

Every time I go visit Austin I end up going to Toy Joy.  It's a habit I can't seem to beat.  They just have so much cool stuff in there!

Look at these Unicorns herded up like cattle.  A surplus of unicorns.  I want one.

Left, David (like Perseus from Clash of the Titans) and Right, me nursing a newborn baby unicorn

They had a lot of crazy stuff in this section, and when I looked up the mountain of snakes, cockroaches, dragons, rats, and lizards, I saw the face of Satan.

Day N Night

Some still lives that I constructed in my room, yeah I'm that bored, but at least I'm productive!  One was with normal lighting, the other blacklit.

to Space with Star Wars

Advertisers make slogans that are created to stick in your head, right now I hear "Micromachines, where they gonna take you!" sung by little boys, and then "...to space with STAR WARS!"  anyone else remember that?  I was never big on those.  Who likes tiny things?  Anyways, these were some of me and my brother's old toys that I took portraits of.

Gotta watch out for that Hitler!

I went scavenging for comic books to cut up and I came across these.

Love it.  I think it's funny when superheores and nazis overlap in history.

Got it bad, got it bad, got it bad, I'm hot for teacha!

Songs of Obsession "Lullaby" by The Cure

This song is so sexy.  I heard it on Pandora, and immediately got seduced.  IT sounds like Robert Smith is whispering creepy, sweet nothings into your ear.  Great song.

Xmas lights

I was playing around with shutterspeeds again.  Luckily this year was the first year my parents started using these tacky (which is why I love them) rainbow colored xmas lights, instead of the boring white ones.
